Maybe some winter art as antidote to travails?   " First Amendment, " from My Americana Posters Gallery Dear Friends Old and New, After two years of an International Pandemic, we are in the last 24 hours introduced to a Russian-provoked war in Ukraine. Possible expansion to Europe carry with it ominous implications for the rest of the world, including life here in the USA. Today is a tragic day, in my view...until we learn otherwise. Goodness knows, I hope we learn, soon. To this end, I have been posting here some elements of my Americana Poster Gallery , and also posts from my Faith Prints Gallery . I am hopeful print lovers will find a kind of strength, reassurance and solace in expressions that point toward a rich American history one the one hand and perhaps a hopeful way forward from this moment , on the other.  Here's a gift idea:  The 'Good Almost Anytime'   print--screenprints as gifts:   Consider very unusual poster prints...Beach Posters, I call the...

Winter Freason Has Arrived...

Valentine's Day One Week Away   " Westport Beach Afternoon #2 " from my  Paint Prints Gallery Dear Friends Old and New, Post Storm, now that the winter Freason has officially arrived, and with Valentine's Day only a week away, perhaps a new print is in order. And what is more appropriate than a scene commemorating a summer afternoon on the beach? In This case, my subject is the beach at Westport, Massachusetts, often referred to as Horseneck Beach, one of my very favorites. There are are series of these images, each one made from a small acrylic painting I created on canvas board, at the time. See my Paint Prints Gallery to see other selections.  Here's a gift idea:  The 'Good Almost Anytime'   print--screenprints as gifts:   Consider very unusual poster prints...Beach Posters, I call them. See them in my  Beach Poster Gallery :  New Jersey ,  Long Island ,  Florida ,  Chesapeake Bay , and  California . Prints for January-- Big Storm on Way

Image
Nice time to consider...an original lighthouse print ?  " Portland Head Light " from my  Paint Prints Gallery Dear Friends Old and New, A storm is making its way up the east coast of the United States. More than two feet of snow is predicted to fall, this weekend. Winter settling in, now. Woodstove and furnace work full-time, most days. Today is cold and clear. Perhaps all this creates a good time to order a new print before the storm hits. How about a print from a series of lighthouses I completed some years ago? Here is an example, " Portland Head Light ." What is unusual about this image and series is that each painting is completed in acrylic paint at a small scale, 7" x 5" on a wooden shingle. A very nice visual effect, if I don't say so myself. This series is 'undiscovered,' meaning, I have never really promoted it or called any attention to it. But that is changing, now. The series is charming. You can see my new NFTs incorporating thi...

January Perplexities & Antidotes?

Image
What a curious time this is... isn't it?     " My Really Important Life #20 " from my Paint Prints Gallery Dear Friends Old and New, Here in 2022, the vibe, at least in this man's opinion, is decidedly odd. Maybe the earth is at a tipping point. Maybe it's global warming, climate change. Maybe our underlying values need to be re-examined...and fortified . Maybe our country has to be tuned-up for this still-new century. Maybe the accumulation of feckless behaviors and mis-guided decisions are taking their toll. Maybe the Pandemic has just screwed up the social order of most folks. Perhaps the thought of $30T+ of national debt is enough to turn our idealism into a mud pile. Maybe listening to our President try to explain anything is just too taxing (no pun, intended), bewildering, even infuriating. Maybe our political class has over decades worn us out. Maybe just the notion of " progress " requires a deep breath such as this, once in awhile to find an...

Happy New Year 2022!

A New Year is Upon Us...a Time of Grace?   " Amazing Grace " from Americana Posters Gallery Dear Friends Old and New, The season of Epiphany , now? Yes it is! In a year in which we will participate in our national elections, mid-term, life promises to be raucous, does it not? How does one celebrate Epiphany? Is it "nothing?" Is it "something?" Or, "Something?" Does it mark a profound change in human history? How do you think about it? Typically, I confess-- I have never much thought about it. But these days, I find I do.  "The 'Good Almost Anytime' print--prints as gifts:   Consider very unusual gifts...Beach Posters...as a screen-printed gifts, this year.   See them, in my  Beach Poster Gallery :  New Jersey ,  Long Island ,  Florida ,  Chesapeake Bay , and  California . Each poster includes  actual sand  gathered by yours truly from the beaches of that particular locality then adhered to the poster, itself; a very unusual pos...

Christmas on horizon , will you celebrate ? " John 3:16 " perfect engraved art for  Holydays Dear Friends Old and New, This season has crept up on me. In some respects, I'm still back in August-September , days are warm, honey-bees are here in big numbers and hard at work, gardens are still in bloom, grass needs to be cut, a beach-day shows up every now and again. Life is easy . But ha! Such is not the case, at all.  Seasonal weather has arrived. Politics are dismal. Reality is strained, and strange in many ways. And the story of Christ , the theme of 2000+ years of Western Civilization, is about to be celebrated , even in its tattered state.  Prints as gifts:  Consider very unusual gifts...Beach Posters...as a screen-printed gifts, this year.   See them, in my  Beach Poster Gallery :  New Jersey ,  Long Island ,  Florida ,  Chesapeake Bay , and  California . Each poster includes  actual sand  gathered...
