On the Cusp of...Advent

Image
The Story of Western Civilization   " John 13:34 " Photo Print, from my Faith Prints Gallery Dear Friends Old and New, Thanksgiving has come and gone. And a peaceable, congenial, restful one it was, even in these trying times. Now the Advent season is upon us, the time of the year when many of us prepare, we wait, we pray, we hope the story of the  Christ child will be told as it has for well over 2000 years. We do so with the realization that Western Civilization itself owes its very existence to this history, this story, this compelling myth of our own existence. Yes, it is a mysterious one, as it should be, it is one the essence of which is both in and beyond our understanding, don't you find this to be true? The whole idea that a chaste woman is selected from all of humankind to become miraculously pregnant with the " Son of Man ," is a story over the top. " Absurd ," my mother used to exclaim, herself a very devout, Christian woman in every sense

Thanksgiving Week!

Sacred Ritual?   A time to reflect ?   " Jackman Fall Sunset " Photo Print, from my  Photo Gallery Dear Friends Old and New, Want to step off the grid, even for a moment? Jackman, Maine may be the place to give this a try. Here is, " Jackman Fall Sunset ," a recommendation for your print collection this Thanksgiving Week , 2022. In this circumstance, this entire region was drenched in rain and violent winds for a period of time, after which, as dusk arrived, the air cleared entirely opening up the most beautiful sunset light you've ever seen. I was lucky to catch this image, one that entrances me, still. Seems a fitting image for fall, for November, for Thanksgiving, and I am happy to pull it up as but a consideration . Would make an excellent holiday photo gift-print, too. Perhaps time to do this now, before the crush of the season arrives?  Biblical Prints:   John 13:34 :  With mid-term elections behind us, we reflect upon the most important exercise at th

Mid-November, already?   Guess what's two week's off! No!  " Dorset Vermont Fall " Photo Print, from my  Photo Gallery Dear Friends Old and New, Election results, you want? Forgeddaboudit. I understand Arizona has a working budget of $4B to determine election outcomes in an efficient manner...and this is what we get? I won't comment any further, except to say in my Thanksgiving wishes I will include a sentiment to replace the Arizona executive management team with a competent one, change the law so that when 2024 rolls around we don't have any more of this 'election season,' nonsense for whacked- out leftists, but a sturdy, fool-proof election day for all American citizens.  Biblical Prints:   John 13:34 :  With mid-term elections behind us, but not really, we reflect upon the most important exercise at the root of our Democratic Republic, of our still testy experiment. This comes at a time when "Religion" continues to be trashed by the pr

November, Isn't This A Serious Month?

Early November ,  Veteran's Day on My Mind... " God Bless America " Art Print, from my  Photo Gallery Dear Friends Old and New, October recedes, what a beautiful month it was around here. November arrives as though it is still September, temperatures in seventies in Southern New England...pretty much all week long, though a new front is to blow in tonight, minus twenty degrees they tell us. Leaves have fallen now, in large measure. Once green lots of grass are brown. Daylight savings comes to an end, always a challenging time of year in my life-- I like light. The prospect of Thanksgiving is on the horizon. One study tells us a turkey will cost three times this year what it cost last. Then, Veteran's Day is coming up in a week or so. My posts this week have to do with this subject, in the main.  This print, be reminded, is one of seven in my original series of "Who We Are," images designed and produced in the aftermath of 9.11.01. Here we are in 2022 and t
