Is the World Locked and Loaded?
...Strange & Daunting Times, Are These Not?
Dear Friends Old and New,
Memorial Day is passed-- July 4 coming up, soon to follow. The season flies, this time of year. Flowers bloom, daily; new grass seed takes root and is coming up with zest. My two bags of Wildflower seeds are exhausted, empty--I've planted all of them around this property in an effort to draw Hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. Will be fun to watch them grow, see what actually transpires over the next several months. But hasn't the world taken on a strange and daunting quality? War is in the air on numerous fronts. People seem laconic about it. Money is rumored to be replaced by digital currencies controlled by the Government. Robots replace human beings in jobs and on-line...discerning the real person from the fake is a growing challenging. We're told that whatever a person feels is what is true--regardless of what we may understand of science or see with our own eyes. Corporate paymasters use sponsors of one gender who claim they are another to promote their goods and services. I run the risk of being fired or cancelled for not complying with someone else's idiocy, insanity. The American Medical Association has pronounced Body-Mass-Index guidelines to be 'racist." Pete Buttttaaaagjuudge has asserted 'roads are racist.' An 80 year-old guy in the Whitehouse claims to know what is going on though most of us can see he has little to any idea, at all. Some governments are confiscating farms and killing cows in the name of climate change while their populations climb radically due to global migration patterns, requiring more food, not less. WGBH radio decides everyone needs to be updated on the relevance of 'black, trans paganism' in Boston...to the Summer Solstice. Sure, why not. Honestly, I can't keep up with it all. As an antidote, I eat fresh strawberries, daily. Cherries, this time of year are delicious, too. I plant wildflowers. I cut grass. I gaze at Day Lillys. I watch the birds build their nests and cavort with their young. Honey-bees show up once in awhile, thankfully. Yes, life is good. Weird, but good.
Biblical Prints: John 13:34: "Religion," as we often witness, is fashionably trashed by the predictably data-driven, often self-righteous, secular Left, possessed by the desire to make itself the center of power, law and authority up and down this society-- working overtime to obliterate any idea or set of ideas that competes with its manufactured, ephemeral, chaotic all-too-narrow, worldly orthodoxies, demanding conformity, everywhere...what a tedious bore. Then, there is the question of one's personal faith, one's faith tradition. And there is the question for non-believers-- "I don't believe it." And the question for agnostics, those who could believe-- if only someone could 'prove it to me.' And the question for data-gatherers, science people, people of logic and rationality who want to participate in an extra-earthly experience that 'makes sense.' What a world we live in! The idea that logic or rationality or deductive reasoning, or any sort of conscious attempt to pin down the Metaphysical is itself humorous, isn't it? Consequently, I find my faith prints timely and inspiring--and am happy to make them available to you or your organization on an "anytime" basis. Honestly, to see these images hanging in offices and rooms of friends is always a special treat that warms my heart. Last summer, a friend gave his brother an art print gift, seen here, an unusual interpretation of John 3:16.
