Dear Friends Old and New,
Well, my wood stove has been cranking all week. Rain, wind, cold, damp, we've seen a variety over seven to ten days. At night, the house is warm, furnace is off. I like this idea and always have, a whole lot. Take heart, eighty degrees by Thursday, we're told! But I have not let this streak of testy-weather get to me, have been outside weeding, raking, composting when I can between wet-spells, once some sun shines and winds begin to blow. Progress, no matter what!
But there is still much to do. This morning, I hauled my harrower out of the barn, an old-fashioned but reliable tool. Will have to run it through a couple of gardens this week, turn over the soil, prepare for seeding...a wonderful time of year. I can tell you, the young cow above is just as happy as I at the prospect of comfortable spring weather. I took this photo while eating an ice-cream cone, chocolate, purchased at the Ice Cream Barn, just across the street. They have a great gig going. Come eat ice-cream, watch the cows and bulls cavort at the fence along the road. Who can resist? I have stopped here umpteen times over the years, a great spot to chow-down on a generous dollop of Chocolate ice-cream with nuts!
